05 Aug 2002 Blueberries

Heralds of summertime/
Cold against my lips/
The sky thunders "Perfect as it is"/
So powerful this blue/
Near primal darkness/
Wheels from a child's toy/
Lunch for a scrappy crow/
Squished It stains my floor

19 Aug 2002 York Beach

A simple weekend at York
wet sand and crashing waves
beach bum birds
kites dueling
Ocean breeze with salt spray
Brown's best chocolate icecream
Lounging on the lawn
Mom slept like a baby
May all mother beings
Be always loved by their children
And sleep enfolded in the lap of the buddha

Just this week summer ended
With autumn rising, smoke in a chimney
A sweet pear
tart apple
Perfect sleeping weather now

When is the night still? Perhaps
Between the rolling steps of a quick moving skunk
In tiny spaces between insectual chirps
As a moth slips through a hole in the screen
After the neighbor's cat leaps...
